Sri Balaji Rice Mill was started under the able leadership of Late Sri Jugal Kishore Sarda who is said to be the pioneer of Rice mills in all of the surrounding districts of Bellary. He was in the field of Rice Industry since early 1960’s and was considered to be one of the most experienced and dynamic industrialists of that era.
His second son, Late J.K.Muralidhar Sarda, was the main force behind the starting of current Sri Balaji Rice Mill in 1980. In those periods, he was the one person who had the courage to setup big industries and worked hard with discipline and dedication for setting up the rice mill.
Mr. J.K.Govindnarayan Sarda (present Managing Partner), youngest son of Late Sri Jugal Kishore Sarda, completed his B.Com and joined Sri Balaji Rice Mill in 1984 and worked along with his father in various activities of the rice mill. He took the initiative of installing new modern dryer and boiler in 1995. Again in 2001, the rice mill section was modernized with the then latest Miltech whiteners and polishers. In the year 2008, after an extensive survey, a 7-8 TPH fully automated Buhler Plant, along with Sortex, 40 Tons SKF’s Stainless Steel Double Dryer were installed. In the year 2015, SBRM was the first Rice Mill in Karnataka to install the Sortex S6, world’s most advanced Color Sorter for Rice, which further improved on the quality of the final rice.
G. Prashanth Kumar Sarda, eldest son of Mr. J.K.Govindnarayan Sarda, completed his MBA in 2007 and has since been assisting his father in various activities of the rice mill.
G Sagar Sarda, youngest son of Mr. J K Govindnarayan Sarda, also completed his MBA and since has been taking active part in various activities of the Rice Mill.
In 2015, Buhler Sortex S6, a color sorter exclusively designed for rice and imported from London, was installed, making us the first Rice Mill in Karnataka to go with this superior technology of color sorting.
